All Six Senses

Six Senses London opened this March.

The front entrance delights. It has a lot of confidence for a property so many worlds apart from the brand's typically more verdant offerings. The location is curious (it is not in Notting Hill) but I’d rather grab a coffee in Bayswater than Mayfair or Belgravia, any day - I’ll give them that. Inside, the design is all a little too Soho-Home-Forward for me.

Can we retire boucle soon, pretty please?

Absolutely opt for a suite (corner/courtyard terrace both great) over the base rooms, mostly just to avoid that deplorable Glass-Walled Shower in the Middle of the Room trend that they’ve decided to perpetuate. Yikes.

However: their member’s club is refreshingly quiet and private. Place is nestled in the very heart of things and yet the atmosphere is tranquil. We settle in for a catch-up over a Manhattan and some flatbread and the world just melts away. The bartender is a pretty boy with a bright smile and floppy, optimistic haircut. Every member of the team is smiling, actually. They serve 'contended' with conviction. The gym/spa are a similar class of beautiful: I’d rather get my “bio-hacking bullshit” on over in a tiny room in a trusted Harley Street institution, but it’s novel and young and the grandeur makes for excellent social media fodder.

You’ll feel like you’ve walked into an instagram reel.

You know me by now: I’m an English Bitch; I love a moan, and my standards are particular. Don’t go expecting your mind to be blown (this is a positive review, I swear!) but visit with the intent to decelerate and you'll find yourself within a hushed oasis, the perfect spot to spend a rainy day or two with someone special.

Do check it out. I have a feeling it won’t be around forever. When you do: let me know your thoughts or just make a post to r/chubbytravel, naturally.

Kiss kiss 💋
